The iaia's mosaic
A floor with
its own memory.
When we renovated the apartment, we carefully lifted every piece of the hydraulic floor my great-grandfather had installed in the 19th century. These handmade polychrome cement tiles covered the footsteps of my grandmother María — the iaia Maria — for over a century. The mosaic you see is a collage of all the original patterns from the house: a small tribute to her memory and to the history of this family.
